It's hard to find a Korean who hasn't tried this ramen. Shin Ramyun has played a major role in globalizing Korean ramen.
In Korea, Shin Ramyun is often used as a benchmark when choosing the spiciness level of food. While Koreans might not consider Shin Ramyun spicy anymore, it's a great way for foreigners to experience the unique spiciness of Korean cuisine. As the leading representative of ‘K-Ramen’, Shin Ramyun demonstrated its strong global influence with overseas sales exceeding domestic sales during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has surpassed 1 trillion won in overseas sales for two consecutive years, leading to a change in its advertising slogan from ‘The Ramen That Makes Men Cry’ to ‘The Ramen That Makes the World Cry’. You can find Shin Ramyun all over the world, so if you're looking to experience Korean ramen, we recommend starting with Shin Ramyun. If you find Shin Ramyun's spiciness isn't enough, we also recommend the spicier version, ‘Shin Ramyun The Red’. If you can find kimchi nearby, be sure to try it with your ramen!
2. Jin Ramen (진라면)

Jin Ramen, a ramen that has become more widely known to foreigners thanks to BTS's Jin becoming its advertising model in 2023. It's often the preferred choice due to its slightly lower price, around 1,000 won cheaper. Jin Ramen is similar to Shin Ramyun, but in terms of taste, it's less spicy and slightly richer. Koreans often add an egg to their ramen, and we believe Jin Ramen pairs better with an egg than Shin Ramyun. If you're looking for a Korean ramen that's less spicy than Shin Ramyun, give Jin Ramen a try!
3. Neoguri (너구리)

Neoguri is less spicy than Shin Ramyun and Jin Ramen. It's characterized by its thicker noodles compared to other ramens, making it a great choice for those who prefer thicker noodles like udon. It features fish cake shaped like a raccoon dog and kelp. Typically, each pack of ramen comes with one piece of kelp, but sometimes you get two, which people celebrate on social media. If you want a spicier version of Neoguri, try ‘Angry Neoguri’!
