Korean actor Chae Jong-hyeop will star in a Japanese drama. The Japanese drama“EYE LOVE YOU” will premiere on January 1st, 2024. Although Korean actors have appeared in Japanese dramas before, this is the first time a Korean actor has appeared in a prime-time continuous drama on Japanese commercial broadcasting.

“EYE LOVE YOU” is a romance drama about a protagonist, 'Motomiya Yuri', who gains the ability to read people's minds when they make eye contact due to an accident, and the story that unfolds as she meets a Korean student. Yuri, who wanted to give up on love itself because she could read the minds of people she didn't want to know, meets a Korean student, 'Yoon Tae-oh'. The Japanese protagonist, who doesn't understand Korean, can hear Tae-oh's heart but cannot understand the meaning, making him a refreshing opponent to Motomiya, who was suffering from the random sounds of his heart.

The protagonist,‘Motomiya Yuri’ is played by Japanese actress Nikaido Fumi. After landing her first lead role in a continuous drama with "Strawberry Night Saga" in 2019, she played the heroine in the NHK continuous TV novel "Yell", and in 2023, she played the doctor 'Yuzuki Kaoru' in the drama "VIVANT", which became a hot topic in Japan.

Prior to the work, Nikaido Fumi expressed her interest in acting with a Korean actor, and after reading the first episode's script, she commented that she was so interested in the scenario that she looked for the next episode's script. Regarding her co-star Chae Jong-hyeop, she said that since he is one year older, she will be able to rely on him during the drama filming and that she wants to see how Korean actors act on set.

The Korean exchange student‘Yoon Tae-oh’ is played by Korean actor Chae Jong-hyeop, who became known to the public after playing the role of the prospective pitcher 'Yoo Min-ho' in "Stove League" broadcast in 2019, and continued his acting career with "Nevertheless" in 2021 and "Castaway Diva" in 2023.

Regarding his first appearance in a Japanese drama, Chae Jong-hyeop said that he was touched by how his co-star Nikaido Fumi led the scene and relieved his tension, and that he is diligently studying Japanese. He said that although he lives in the real world without the superpowers of the protagonist, many people want to hear good things from others, so it would be good to enjoy the drama by empathizing with the protagonist's emotions.

“EYE LOVE YOU” will air on TBS every Tuesday at 10:00 p.m., starting January 23, 2024. The first episode will be extended by 15 minutes.
