1. Jin Ramen Mild Flavor
Ottugi Daily YouTube channel ‘[Ottugi Jin Ramen] The sincerity of ramen! Jin's Jin Ramen mukbang while eating Jin Ramen today❤️’ video capture
Even during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, when panic buying of groceries occurred in supermarkets, Jin Ramen Mild Flavor remained unsold and stayed on shelves. I wonder if it might be the number one Korean ramen that Koreans don't actually eat.
Due to its mild flavor, it's commonly consumed by foreigners or children who aren't accustomed to spicy food. While typical Korean ramen is characterized by its salty and spicy taste, Jin Ramen Mild Flavor hardly has any noticeable saltiness or spiciness. Examining the nutrition facts reveals the use of soy sauce seasoning base and soy sauce powder. And you can taste the soy sauce base when you eat it.
However, just because it's less salty doesn't mean it's low in sodium. One serving contains 1,780mg of sodium, which is considered high even among Korean ramens. Strangely, it has a higher sodium content than Jin Ramen Spicy Flavor.
2. Soonhagun Ansungtangmyeon

‘Soonhagun Ansungtangmyeon’ launched in October 2023. The existing Ansungtangmyeon wasn't particularly spicy, but now they've released a mild flavor version. It's a new product released to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Ansungtangmyeon. It's a chicken-based ramen, and its spiciness level, measured by the Scoville scale, is 0, indicating it's incredibly mild. In my opinion, it's even milder than Jin Ramen Mild Flavor. I think it's perfect for those who can't handle spicy food.
3. Mild Neoguri
Nongshim Mall
This is the mild flavor version of Neoguri, known for its thick noodles. The original Neoguri is also considered one of the less spicy Korean ramens, enjoying immense popularity overseas. So, I suspect it's a product that Nongshim released with the international market in mind. However, surprisingly, the Mild Neoguri was actually launched before the red Neoguri that we all know. Mild Neoguri was released in 1982, while the spicy Neoguri came out in 1983. The taste is said to be closer to udon. Unlike the two ramens mentioned above, it has a lower sodium content at 1,480mg.
4. Sari Gomtangmyeon
Nongshim Brand
Sari Gomtangmyeon is a ramen that's consumed more as a cup noodle than a pack noodle in Korea. Its white broth immediately tells you it's not spicy. Based on Gomtang, a Korean dish made with beef bone broth, Sari Gomtangmyeon has a flavor similar to Gomtang or Seolleongtang (ox bone soup). For an enhanced taste, you can add scallions (like in actual Gomtang) or enjoy it with kimchi.
The white broth instantly reveals that it's a non-spicy ramen. Considering the wide variety of white broth ramens, I plan to create a separate post about them in the future.
