1. Chapagetti

The representative jjajang ramen, Chapagetti. It's the most famous jjajang ramen in Korea. Although it was created based on jjajangmyeon, it has a unique flavor different from jjajangmyeon. The taste is so unique that jjajangmyeon and Chapagetti can be considered completely different dishes. However, it doesn't completely deviate from the jjajangmyeon flavor.
Chapagetti is often eaten as 'Jjapaguri', which also appeared in the movie "Parasite". It gained explosive popularity after being introduced on an entertainment program. 'Jjapaguri' is made by mixing Chapagetti and Neoguri. Boil the noodles with the vegetable and soup packages of each ramen in water for two servings. After boiling, discard some of the water, leaving a little bit. Then, add one packet of Chapagetti seasoning and half a packet of Neoguri seasoning and mix. Due to the high popularity of Jjapaguri, Nongshim even launched a product called 'Jjapaguri'.

This is another jjajang ramen released by Nongshim. What's the difference between this and the previously mentioned Chapagetti? First, the size of the toppings is larger. It seems to be designed considering the size of the toppings in real jjajangmyeon. It seems they put more emphasis on the chewing texture. Another difference is the thickness of the noodles. The noodles are made thicker. Overall, it seems like a ramen that emphasizes the texture. It also gained popularity when members of the popular Korean variety show 'Infinite Challenge' ate it on a deserted island during the 10th anniversary special.
3. Roasting Jjajangmyeon
Pulmuone
This 'Roasting Jjajangmyeon', advertised by the popular Korean mukbang YouTuber 'Ipjjalbeun Haetnim', uses dried noodles. One of the characteristics of jjajang ramen is its high calorie content. However, it uses dried noodles, reducing the calorie burden. Usually, jjajang ramen has a different taste from jjajangmyeon, but this Roasting Jjajangmyeon tastes very similar to jjajangmyeon. It seems that the dried noodles played a significant role in achieving a taste similar to jjajangmyeon. Since jjajangmyeon noodles are not deep-fried, perhaps the dried noodles make the flavor more similar to jjajangmyeon.
4. Teumsae Ramen Spicy Jjajang
Paldo
There's a jjajang version of Teumsae Ramen, which we introduced in the previous post about 'Recommended Spicy Korean Ramen'. It's called 'Teumsae Ramen Spicy Jjajang'. In Korea, people sometimes sprinkle red pepper flakes on jjajangmyeon according to their preference. It's because the spiciness can help reduce the richness of jjajangmyeon. Teumsae Ramen Spicy Jjajang can be thought of as jjajangmyeon with red pepper flakes added. It comes with liquid seasoning, so you boil the noodles, drain the water, and then mix the liquid seasoning with the noodles. The manufacturer recommends heating the liquid seasoning before mixing for a better taste. If you want a spicy jjajang ramen, this is the best choice.
