Ottugi's 'Beef Seaweed Soup Ramen' is a ramen inspired by the Korean dish 'Seaweed Soup'. When this ramen was first released, many people were puzzled. It's because seaweed soup typically doesn't include noodles. However, after trying it, we realized that it remarkably replicates the flavor of seaweed soup. Usually, ramen that imitates the taste of a dish is difficult to get right, but this one has an incredible level of similarity. At first, eating noodles with a seaweed soup flavor felt a bit odd, but now I'm used to it thanks to this ramen. If any foreigners are interested in experiencing the Korean dish of seaweed soup, trying this ramen could be a good way to do so. In Korea, seaweed soup is a traditional dish eaten on birthdays. It originated from the practice of feeding seaweed, rich in nutrients, to mothers after childbirth. Foreigners curious about the taste of seaweed soup, give it a try!
2. Mulkang Ramen

In 2023, Nongshim's Mulkang, known for being the perfect beer snack, gained popularity. The Cheongyang Mayo-flavored Mulkang became a sensation on SNS with its savory and rich mayonnaise flavor balanced by the spicy kick of Cheongyang peppers. Following this trend, Nongshim launched 'Mulkang Ramen'.
It utilizes the ingredients from the original 'Mulkang' snack to recreate its flavor. Since it's derived from a snack, it seems they opted for a stir-fried noodle format rather than a soup ramen. It's currently only available as a cup ramen and hasn't been released as a bagged ramen yet. Compared to the snack, eating it as ramen provides a more filling meal. Therefore, it's perfect for those who want a hearty and budget-friendly meal with beer. However, it's important to note that those who can't handle spicy food should exercise caution.
3. Jumbo Dossirak

This ramen also became a social media sensation. The 'Dossirak' cup ramen, which I recommended in a previous cup ramen recommendation post, has been released in an extra-large jumbo size. It's called 'Jumbo Dossirak,' and it's the ramen you see on the right side of the picture.
Even from the picture, you can see that it's quite large. It's said to be equivalent to 8 servings of cup ramen. Apparently, there are 8 noodle servings inside when you open the cup ramen. Considering its size, it's not something you can eat alone. You'd need at least 4 people to finish it. It's perfect for gathering with friends at home or enjoying as a late-night snack when you're out, creating both delicious memories and fun times.
4. Gongganchun Jjaejjang Jjamppong
The ramen on the left of the Jumbo Dossirak in the picture is the second extra-large ramen series following the release of the Jumbo Dossirak. It's a cup ramen version of 'Jjamppong,' a dish that combines jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodles). It seems to be inspired by the large-sized 'Jjaejjang' (black bean noodles), hence the name 'Jjaejjang Jjamppong'. Similar to the Jumbo Dossirak, it also serves 8 portions. However, it's more expensive than the Jumbo Dossirak.
Both ramen varieties are available at GS25 convenience stores.
